Job Purpose
- To provide a competent electrical/mechanical engineering support service throughout the site to ensure a safe and efficient operational standard of all site services and production equipment
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Engineering team preferably with an electrical bias, ensuring that there is adequate maintenance support to cover the factory
- Maintain site plant and equipment to the required business and legal standards, improving machine efficiency and preventing unplanned downtime.
- Support the development of efficiency improvements in line with the objectives of the factory
- Continuously develop and support the Planned Preventative Maintenance System, implementing and recommending improvements that will reduce further downtime. Complete checklists allocated on a selective basis to ensure adherence to plan
- Support the successful introduction of new manufacturing equipment and services
- Liaise with production equipment suppliers and engineering sub-contractors to organise repairs and breakdowns that cannot be accomplished on site
- Process purchase requests where applicable for parts required for in-house projects,and raise emergency requisitions for emergency items as and when required. Liaise with the purchasing manager to arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluate products/parts according to specifications and quality standards
- Contribute to the compilation of proposals considered feasible to management
- Provide support and develop others in the team by means of mentoring, coaching or transferring knowledge
- Maintain engineering process documentation and maintain spare provisions stock as appropriate
- To be responsible for the occupational health and safety of people by ensuring that safe and healthy practices are followed and that all aspects of company, site and legal occupational health and safety requirements are met
Knowledge, Skills/Attributes and Experience
- Must be able to perform each of the above duties satisfactorily
- Ideally have experience on PLC programming and interrogation on Siemens S7/S5 and Allen Bradley, Siemens, Yaskawa, Omron and Control Techniques drive systems
- Should have experience of load cell tension control
- Must possess experience of working with three phase/single phase circuits and intrinsically safe circuits
- Must be able to work at heights using access equipment
- Possession of a full current UK driving licence would be preferable although must be able to perform each of the above duties satisfactorily
Communications & Working Relationships
- Be able to demonstrate strong communication skills to enable a good clear flow of information between shifts, with the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, Production Manager and Operations Manager.
Additional Background Information
- This role is currently required on a 2-shift basis and will therefore rotate between 6.00am to 2.00pm / 2.00pm to 10.00pm and respectively and then an possibility of moving to a 3 shift basis. However, the role holder will be required to possess a flexible approach to hours, changing shifts and shift basis, when necessary, with reasonable notice and in accordance with the needs of the business.
