This role is responsible for business and technical analysis of new products and features, and works closely with product managers and software engineers to drive great outcomes. This role’s specific areas of responsibility include internet data harvesting, as well as data warehouse and reporting/analytics. Partnering with Product Management to understand high level requirements and priorities, the Software Business Analyst fills the Product Owner role in our agile Scrum process, and operates as a conduit between Product Management and software development teams.
What you will do:
-Meet regularly with Product Manager to stay in touch with the needs of the business, priorities, and what is needed from Engineering.
-Become a subject matter expert for the relevant product area, familiar with product features, user workflows, user objectives and motivations, and business rationale.
-In accordance with best practices, write user stories with clear acceptance criteria that translate business requirements into technical and functional requirements with appropriate scope.
-Review user stories with Scrum Team to ensure the team understands the desired outcomes and ensures alignment of planned implementation with expectations of Product Management.
-Prioritize product backlog in agreement with Product Management priorities.
-Become familiar with software architecture to understand what components are affected by product and feature requests.
-Partner with Tech Lead to drive the Scrum Team.
-Plan sprints in partnership with engineers and in accordance with Product Management priorities.
-Regularly attend daily standups to provide answers to any requirements questions that may arise, and to stay informed on sprint status.
-Give feedback on in-progress work to engineers and QA testers before completion of a sprint, and loops Product -Manager into discussions impacting the desired outcomes.
-Partner with Product Manager to accept/reject the functionality presented during Sprint Reviews.
-Manage, organise, contribute to, and is familiar with Engineering wiki content
-Prioritizes production bug fixes with input from stakeholders and Product Management
-Work with Operations and Product Management to drive internal beta testing and/or UAT activities prior to release of new products and features
-Work with Program Management to report on progress and health of assigned projects
-Collaborate with UX designers to enable them to iterate on and deliver high fidelity design prototypes.
What you Need:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
-3 – 5 years of experience in roles such as business analyst, business systems analyst, technical analyst, technical product owner, or other similar roles.
-Previous experience interacting with software development teams in an Agile environment.
-Previous experience as a Scrum Product Owner is preferred, but not required.
-Previous experience in OpSec’s industry space is a plus.
