The global trade in counterfeit and smuggled taxable goods is a global issue, with funds gained from illicit trade known to support organized crime and terrorist organizations.
OpSec’s complete suite of tax stamp solutions enables governments to protect tax revenues and fees by deterring the counterfeiting of security indicia, enhancing the audibility of its excise tax collection program, and actively monitoring physical and online markets for illicit trade.
OpSec tax stamps provide uncompromised optical and material security.
Banknote level security print features are combined with OVDs (optically variable devices) to provide market-leading security features at overt, covert and forensic levels. Enforcement officials are supplied and trained with the tools to quickly authenticate tax stamps in the field.
OpSec's Track InSightTM and Trace InSightTM modules have been developed and proven to trace tax stamps from creation through to manufacturing and application. Trace InSight adapts to meet specific regional and industrial requirements, ensuring all required supply chain data is available in real time.
Our solutions have also been proven to meet international standards and have helped our global customers meet their FCTC and TPD requirements.
OpSec's mobile authentication is capable of not only providing in-field officers with supply-chain data, but also to verify multiple security features within the stamp at the same time.
The result is a reliable, constant mobile enforcement solution that ensures any effort to replicate or emulate the stamp would prove fruitless.
By utilizing open 2D codes within the stamp, customs and revenue authorities have the capability of directly engaging with the public.
Opportunities available include consumer product authentication, reporting of illicit trade, smoking cessation support and any other requirements that would help the government communicate effectively with the consumer.
OpSec has almost 40 years' experience implementing high security solutions for government clients. This expertise ensures that each tax stamp program is managed by project managers, technical staff and engineers who completely understand the global tax stamp sector and have proven implementation knowledge.
The success of existing OpSec tax stamp programs are testament to the dedication of the internal implementation teams and our network of global partners and agents.
GOVERNMENTS THAT TRUST US
These are just a few of the governments that rely on OpSec every day.
A critical component to government revenue, tax stamps provide assurances that appropriate duties have been levied on legislatively identified products.
The State of Michigan Department of Treasury required a new solution to replace their traditional untracked and unsecured tax stamp program. The existing solution offered decades-old technology, offered minimal optical security and no track or trace capabilities. Therefore, the program was highly exposed to counterfeiting and diversion of legitimate tax revenue.
OpSec provided Michigan with a complete cigarette tax stamp solution, including the supply of digital cigarette stamps, configuration of application machines, cameras, and software to capture unique tax stamps; and related services.
The overall cigarette stamping/enforcement solution offered by OpSec was a two-pronged approach that provided the utmost in ease-of-use, speed, and accuracy – as well as fully electronic tax tracking and enforcement features.
