Banknote Protection

The first use of holographic optically variable device’s (OVD’s) on a banknote was in 1989 on an Austrian 1000 shilling. Since then this proven technology has been used on over 100 denominations worldwide including the simultaneous launch of 12bn euro notes in 2000.

OpSec through its predecessor company Applied Holographics, has been a holographic manufacturer supplying holographic products protecting banknotes for over fifteen years. Our secure holographic manufacturing facility in the UK has been audited by governments and central banks for our supply of security materials for banknote protection.

In addition to supplying products for use as patches, stripes or threads in currency, we have undertaken technology transfer programs for Government-owned banknote printers and their authorized institutions.
