Position purpose

The Buyer will be responsible for all purchasing functions required to support the North American operations. The successful candidate for this position has experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain concepts. This includes:

  • Forecasting
  • JIT and Lean Concepts
  • Inventory Management
  • Procurement Strategies


  • Serve as primary contact with suppliers
  • Act as the liaison with Operations and NPD regarding supplier and raw material requirements/issues
  • Manage raw material inventory dollars and turns
  • Manage spend vs budget
  • Track PPV on a monthly basis
  • Issue and manage purchase orders for all required materials
  • Provide rolling monthly forecasts to suppliers
  • Evaluate/qualify new or alternate supply sources to meet ongoing new product development and customer requirements
  • Perform cost analyses to make informed decisions
  • Assist Finance team with annual budgeting process on raw material spend
  • Support new product launches, including inventory management and ramp schedules
  • Develop and adhere to all defined monthly purchasing KPIs
  • Understand raw material industry price trends and proactively provide guidance on potential impacts to internal business partners
  • Develop and maintain supplier scorecards, surveys and service level agreements
  • Visit suppliers’ facilities as part of qualification and/or audit processes
  • Successfully manage all assigned projects to meet all deadlines
  • Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders
  • Implement process improvement and/or lean techniques to reduce working capital and improve service


·         Bachelor’s degree in supply chain preferred, will consider business majors

·         Minimum of 3-5 years Supply Chain experience preferably in purchasing or procurement

·         Strong Microsoft Office experience with an emphasis in Excel.  Must have strong working knowledge of Excel formulas, pivot tables and graphing

·         ERP experience

·         Strong negotiation skills


·         APICS CPIM certification

·         Purchasing and/or procurement certification

·         Experience with printing, coating and polyester industries
